Our mission is to help individuals manage their asthma effectively and improve their quality of life. We pride ourselves on offering personalised care and innovative solutions to address the root causes of asthma.

Maureen Lavis
Founder & Practitioner
Maureen is a former high school teacher whose career spanned 35 years in local Illawarra schools in NSW, Australia. She specialised in Learning Support and was a keen advocate of participation and
equity for all.
In 1997, Maureen completed a Remedial Massage Diploma. Then in 2001, she was trained in the Dr Alexander James Method of Treating Asthma by his daughter, Nina Marzi.
She set up rooms in Market St, Wollongong in 2002. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Maureen has seen significant improvements in the quality of life of her patients.
Maureen is devoted to keeping this method of treating asthma in the public arena, with an online training program launching soon.
Madeline Findlay
Marketing & Media Manager
Before joining the Asthma Smart team, Madeline was a patient. After adopting the unique treatment, facilitated by Maureen Lavis, Madeline's chronic respiratory conditions were successfully healed.
Having experienced first-hand the limitations respiratory illness brings, including the detrimental side effects of prolonged prescription steroid and antibiotic use, Madeline is passionate about promoting drug-free asthma treatment for all those who need it.
Madeline is a University of Wollongong graduate, holding both Bachelor of Laws, and Bachelor of Communications & Media. She has professional experience across both industries, as well as disability support work for people with Autism.
Emily Kadwell

Emily is a local business owner and health enthusiast.
She has qualifications in the Fitness and Recreation Industries with a passion for seeing people healthy and whole.
Treated by Nina Marzi in infancy, Emily and two of her siblings are living testimonies to the effectiveness of the Dr James Method.
Emily continues to be a supportive soundboard for Maureen and the Asthma Smart team.
